Application & Benefits
Customers frequently opt for high-performance, energy-efficient windows, only to overlook the importance of proper insulation around window posts and door frames.
We see examples where clients go to the extreme of installing ultra-efficient windows but neglect the details.
This oversight is particularly common in new constructions, especially those incorporating steel supports in bay windows. Addressing this issue, we wrap these sections in a 10mm foiled Spaceloft Aerogel insulation, effectively eliminating cold bridges and preventing future mould growth.
Thermal Steel Wraps
Spaceloft Aerogel is the world’s lowest-density solid and most effective thermal insulator. The outstanding thermal properties of aerogels have been studied for decades.
The unique process integrates Spaceloft Aerogel into a fiber-batting reinforcement to create flexible, resilient, durable Spaceloft Aerogel blankets with superior insulating properties.
Thermal Bridging Report
Below are extracts of an example report on how Spaceloft Aerogel performs in a Thermal Bridging Test.
Introduction:
The Contractor supplied constructional drawings of a wind post wrapped in Spaceloft aerogel, to be used in a corner construction adjacent to two window/door jambs. The purpose of this project is to establish the linear heat loss of the insulated wind post via thermal bridging analysis.
Methodology:
The thermal bridging analysis of insulated wind posts has been undertaken in accordance with EN 10211: 2007 and BR497, using Physibel’s 3D heat flow program, TRISCO v13, to obtain the linear thermal transmittance, ?-value. This value may then be used as a SAP entry for dwellings.
